Leave the Investigation to Your Attorney & Your Investigator

If you are charged with a crime or are under investigation for a crime or you are accused of committing a crime — talk to a criminal defense attorney without delay.  The longer you wait.  The greater risk there is of valuable information being lost.  Many people are anxious to do there own investigation immediately.  Or they want to save money by not hiring a lawyer.  Words of advice — contacting witnesses on your own is not a good idea.  Securing witness statements on your own is not a good idea.  The last thing you want on top of everything else you’re dealing with is a witness tampering or witness intimidation beef.  If you have an attorney than let your attorney handle these matters on your behalf.  Give him / her a list of people you think should be interviewed and let the attorney and his investigator do their job.  If you have a court appointed attorney, talk to him or her about using the services of an investigator.  If you are pro se, you should still use the services of an investigator to conduct your investigation of the case.  Removing yourself from this aspect of the case will help protect you.
